In September 2015, I participated in the seventh edition of the OsteoBiol Open Day in Bilbao. The event gathered around 100 professionals interested in improving their knowledge of Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) and periodontal surgery.

These talks were intended to show dentists, stomatologists and maxillofacial surgeons that biomaterials are a highly predictable alternative for obtaining functional and aesthetic results which also reduce surgical trauma; however, these techniques require perfect knowledge and study.

This seventh edition enjoyed the participation of top-notch speakers in doctors Antonio Murillo Rodríguez, Ramón Gómez Meda and Antonio Armijo Salto.

Dr Antonio Murillo Rodríguez talked about his experience with “Periodontal focus in tissue deficit in implantology”. Dr Ramón Gómez Meda focussed his talk on “Advances in GBR: Today’s alternatives to bone blocks.” Lastly, Dr Antonio Armijo Salto spoke about the “Use of the cortical veneer for atrophic maxilla regeneration.

All of the speakers addressed the subject of implants, how to handle hard and soft tissues, the use of new technologies and the correct application of biomaterials in the different treatments.

At our clinic we are aware of the importance of training and updating knowledge in order to be able to offer our patients the very best of treatments. That’s why we continue to scientifically update by means of attending specialised courses and congresses.
